What’s Hoo ھو ?

Hoo is a term used in Sufism which refers to the affirmation of divine unity, and it is a powerful aspect of Sufi spirituality. According to Sufi teaching, the essence of the universe is one, and everything in creation is an expression of that divine essence. Therefore, the ultimate goal of Sufi practice is to awaken to the reality of this unity and experience spiritual transformation. Here are some of the significant importance of Hoo in Sufism:

  1. The Power of Divine Love: The Sufi path focuses on developing a deep relationship with God through love and devotion, and Hoo is a powerful tool of expressing that love. The chanting of Hoo creates a vibration that opens the heart and allows one to connect with the divine.
  2. Remembrance of God: The chanting of Hoo helps the Sufis to remember God continuously, as it is believed that by continuously affirming the unity of God, one can overcome the ego and connect with the divine.
  3. Dissolution of Self: The repetition of Hoo helps in dissolving the self or ego, which is considered the root of all suffering. Through the repetition of the Hoo, one can overcome the egoic mind and experience oneness with the divine.
  4. Meditative practice: The chanting of Hoo is an essential meditative practice in Sufism. It is a form of dhikr or remembrance that helps one to focus on the divine presence and generate positive energy.

In conclusion, the Hoo plays an essential role in Sufism as it is believed that chanting it helps a Sufi to connect with the divine, dissolve their ego, and experience spiritual transformation.
